New Client Information - FAQS

Do I need a referral to schedule an appointment?

No, not usually. Some insurance companies require a referral from your primary care physician (PCP) and some EAP programs ask that you contact them prior to scheduling an appointment. If you are not sure, you can contact us and we will let you know if you need to contact your PCP or EAP.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Just give us a call! Usually whoever answers the phone will be able to take you through a few questions to help determine what provider will be best for your situation and schedule the appointment. You can also send an email through this website and let us know you would like an appointment and someone will give you a call.

Will I have a choice in the provider I see?

We like to meet as many of the patient's requests as possible. It is important to remember that our administrative staff has to work within the parameters that the providers have established, for example, some providers only work with adults or only manage medications. Also, not all our providers are credentialed with all insurance companies, so it is possible that if you want to see a provider who is not credential with your insurance company we will not be able to submit claims for payment to the insurance and the patient will be responsible for the total amount of the sessions.

Prepare for An Appointment
Helpful questions to answer before you call to make an appointment:

1. What is the issue that you would like to discuss, so we can match you with the best provider to help you?
2. How old are you?
3. What is your insurance type?
4. Do you have a preference if you have a male or female therapist or no preference?
5. Are there certain days and times that work better for you?
6. Sometimes, providers have cancellations that allow us to get patients in sooner. Would you like us to call you if an opening comes up before your appointment during the days and times that work best for you?

We are looking forward to seeing you. Please call us at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment if something comes up, so we can reschedule your appointment.

Please always keep in mind that an Initial Evaluation is exactly that, an evaluation. If your provider feels your situation would be best served with a higher level of care it is likely that you will be referred to another organization for your treatment.

Will I be able to use my insurance?

We have providers who are credentialed with most insurance companies and are happy to submit claims through your insurance company. If you have an insurance that we are not credentialed with then we will let you know that when you schedule your appointment and let you know what your fee will be.

What hours are you open? Are there other times I can see a provider?

Our regular business hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. We have a part time administrative staff member here until 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday most of the time. Our providers have appointments available from 8:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 5:00 p.m. on Fridays, depending on which provider you are seeing. We do not have weekend hours.

What is an EAP and how do I take advantage of this benefit?

Many companies offer an Employee Assistance Program as a benefit to their employees. These EAPs will pay for counseling evaluations and sessions. Usually they are limited in number and, if it is felt that you situation needs more sessions to reach resolution, then your insurance is used. EAPs only cover marital, individual or family therapy, they do not cover medication management. Your employer's human resources department should be able to tell you if an EAP is one of the benefits they offer and, if so, how to access the EAP. Also, you can call our office and we can let you know if we contract with an EAP through your employer.

Can I set up a payment plan?

Yes. These are usually a monthly fee that can be set up to help you to pay outstanding balances.

What is the difference between your providers? Will I be seeing a psychologist, a psychiatrist or a therapist?

Here at Veridian we have psychiatrists, advanced nurse practitioners, psychologists and masters level licensed mental health professionals. The primary difference is between whether the patient needs medications, psychological testing, and psychotherapy. This is also what would determine what type of provider you are scheduled with. Our administrative staff will be able to work with you when you call for an appointment to help you determine which provider is best for your situation.
